sugar land toddler gymnasticsMom and Me – Class Description

Our Mom and Me program is for ages 18 months to 2 ½ years of age. This “Mom and Me” system will introduce the child to exercises and activities that develop gross motor skills that can enhance balance, coordination, strength, and self esteem. Since this class promotes Mom (or Dad) participation, the child feels safe and comfortable trying and learning these new skills and exercises which leads to a very simple transition to the Super Tot program.

sugar land tots gymnasticsSuper Tots – Class Description

These classes consist of children ages 2 ½ to 4 years of age that have little to no previous experience or that have progressed through the Mom and Me program. The parents are encouraged to let the child do the class without them in the room at this stage. This program continues to build on the gross motor skill development through learning to hang, swing, climb, bounce and very basic tumbling elements. The focus again is to continue to build on the gross motor skill foundation adding gymnastics elements to those fundamental movements allowing the child to learn how to combine movements to create a gymnastics skill. Example: Step lunge kick toward a handstand.

Girls Level 1 (G-Level 1)

This class is for beginners. Children in this class will either have moved from the Combo Class or have had very little to no gymnastics. This class focuses on the basic gymnastics skills on the Women’s Apparatus. These basics skills form a foundation for the child. Our entire program promotes mobility so it is our goal to developed and perfect these basic skills and keep the child moving up in the program.

Girls Level 2 (G-Level 2)

This class is for children that have mastered the Level 1 skills or are evaluated by the staff and have shown mastery of the fundamental basic skills needed to continue learning. This is the Intermediate class in the recreational program. This class will follow closely to the USAG Competitive skills that are needed for moving into the Girls Level 3/4 Competitive Programs. Since not all children have a desire to compete and our goal is to keep the child challenged and learning, once the skills of this level are mastered they, can continue in the Recreational Program to the Level 3 which is the “Advanced” level class.

Girls Level 3 (G-Level 3)

This is the Advanced class in the Recreational Program. This class takes all of the fundamental basics skills learned and mastered in the Level 1 & 2 and begins putting them all together. For example; on the Floor Exercise, this level would begin taking the Round Off and combining with the back handspring and even advancing that to multiple back handsprings or even learning and adding a back flip in a tuck position. This is the Highest level in the Recreational Program because of that ALL new students wanting to participate in these classes would need to be evaluated by the staff and demonstrate mastery of all the fundamental basic skills on all the events before being registered into a Level 3 class.

sugar land tumblingTumbling

Our Tumbling program is for children 8 and older*. These classes focus solely on the skills needed for the Floor Exercise. Most of our participants are looking forward to or already are involved in a Cheerleading program so MOST of the focus is on teaching Round off’s, standing back handsprings, standing back flip in tuck position, and combining the Round off with the back handspring. In doing so there are many fundamental basics that must be mastered to accomplish these skills properly. So a portion of the class is spent working drills for handstands, bridges, bridge kick overs, back and front walk overs, cartwheels, and is specific classes aerial cartwheels.

* Children already involved in a cheer program can participate in certain tumbling classes younger than age 8. This must be approved and the child MUST be active in Cheer.
